YWCA Family Violence Prevention Program offers direct supportive services to victims of domestic violence. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, please contact our 24/7 staffed emergency shelter and crisis hotline. YWCA FVPP also offers court advocacy, support groups, safety planning, monitored parent-child visitation/exchange, and children support groups, teen dating violence prevention advocacy, employability programming, batterer's intervention/prevention programming, and free 911 cell phones. We offer transitional housing and behavior modification for women who use violence (F.O.C.U.S.).

All services are free, however, we cannot guarantee complete confidentiality or safety if you use the Internet or e-mail to contact us. Someone may be able to access or read e-mail to us or you. Please call or write if you need total secrecy.

Emergency Safe Shelter

Established in 1978, Madden House offers a secure 24/7 facility offering safety to women and children. YWCA FVPP also offers a 24 hour staffed crisis hotline. If you are in need of assistance, please call toll free at 1-800-698-1247, or (304) 232-2748

Court Advocacy

Specially trained Domestic Violence Advocates are available to listen, inform, and support. Advocates offer accompaniment and provide guidance through the criminal and civil legal systems. Advocates can help victims identify choices, access risks, provide Legal Aid referrals and other community resources. Monitored Visitation and Exchange

Services are provided to families experiencing domestic violence. Families are court ordered or agency referred. Individual meetings are required with a visitation monitor prior to the onset of a visitation or exchange. For more information contact:

Transitional Housing

Transitional Housing is offered to women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence and offers free residential living for up to two years. For more information contact:

Support Group for Women

The YWCA domestic violence support group is a place where victims and survivors can network, get support, and obtain helpful resources which will provide them with tools to move forward to a healthier and happier life. For more information contact (304) 232-2748

Support Groups for Children who witness domestic violence
Children often suffer the affects of domestic violence in silence. Often children act out in school or while interacting with others. Batterers Intervention and Prevention Program

BIPP currently operates in Brook, Hancock, Ohio, and Marshall Counties. BIPPS work to increase the safety of all domestic violence victims. BIPPS provide educational groups for batterers to stop their abusive behavior. Batterers are taught about the damaging effects of abuse on victims and children. BIPPS also teach batterers to use respectful and non-abusive behaviors with their intimate partners and their children. For more information, call (304) 232-2748

F.O.C.U.S. (Focus on change and understanding self-control)

A women's program designed to address women's anger and use of violence. Free childcare is available. For more information, call (304) 232-2748

Teen Dating Violence Prevention Programming

One in three teens report being verbally, emotionally, physically or sexually abused by a dating partner. Direct services are offered at Wheeling Park High School, John Marshall High School and Magnolia High School. Employability Programming

Domestic violence victims have unique barriers to overcome when finding employment. YWCA FVPP Employment Advocate provides domestic violence victims with assistance in finding employment, resume building and more. Community Education and Awareness

Advocates are available to conduct presentations on domestic violence, dating violence, bullying, and elder abuse; to health care providers, schools, youth services organizations, church groups, and other community groups.
